#50. Best Butter

A loaf of bread, a container of milk, and a stick of... Holy Cow! Butter all but vanished from the supermarket shelves here due to a shortage of milk last year. Very, very reluctantly I shelled out ¥1,000 for the

only brand available: Trappist Butter, which turned out to easily be the best...OK, the only $10 butter I have ever tasted. And yes, it really is made by Trappist monks--the first of three monasteries in Japan was established in Hokaido over one hundred years ago.
